- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆Not a true college prep school. Very limited in their HS course selection, no dedicated college advisory or carreer planning counselor. Eagle Ridge Academy provides a very sparse AP course offering. Students are taught the Shirley English program through 6th grade. This is discarded in 7th and 8th grade for a confusing and disappointing English program. Humanities classes are offered in High School in place of History and English. The school is understaffed and experiences high turn over. Teachers are overwhelmed and unable to score, grade, and provide meaningful feedback on the sheer volume of work they assign. There are better choices in the Twin Cities if you are considering a quality Charter school.By Theodore McLaugherty, January 14, 2018
- ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆Here are a few things you should read about before enrolling in ERA. The negatives are a reason why one star is missing. Negatives: 1. The homework gets more stressful in 7th grade. You have to study for many tests in 7th grade. If you're in 8th grade, it is still stressful. 2. You have to read the Old English version of the Ilyad and the Odyssey. If you were there for 6th grade, try to remember what you can if possible. 3. You have to do Socratic discussions in the humanities class in highschool. If you are not good at Socratic discussions, this school might not be a good fit for you if you're in highschool. It might also be difficult for you to do Socratic discussions after reading the Ilyad and the Odyssey. 4. You have to do a lot of essays in highschool. If you're not good at writing essays, I would not recommend this school to you. You might have to end up repeating a grade. 5. The middle school special education program isn't the greatest. You might not get everything you need or get a bunch of unnecessary help, and you might get some attitude, but a few are good. 6. The teachers can't always keep up to date with Infinite Campus. Since ERA moved to the new building, it takes them a while to update Infinite Campus, maybe even weeks, too. Part of it could be that they're overwhelmed by the move or since the class sizes have gotten bigger in some classes. 7. Not a lot of class choices are offered in highschool, and all your class choices are required in middle school. If you look at the list for class choices for highschool, not a lot is offered in highschool, plus there is no description on each of the classes. You are allowed to choose your music option, but you are required to choose a music option. 8. Sometimes, your schedules get messed up. If you're a middle schooler or a highschooler wanting to enroll in ERA, beware that your schedule might get messed up on. This has been happening since the move of ERA to the Minnetonka building. 9. You might not get as much help from the teacher since the move of the school. 10. You can't always reach out to the teachers if they haven't updated Infinite Campus. You can't call the teachers if you are trying to find out if what your grade is for a class for handing in a certain assignment even though it's late. If you're even a parent, you won't be able to find out if your child really handed their homework in or what their current grade in a class is for handing in the assignment in late. Even if you are a student or a parent trying to email a teacher, they won't respond back. But there are some positives, too. 1. The students are very nice. The students are super respectful, and you will probably make a lot of friends. 2. Some of the teachers are great. You will probably have a lot of good teachers. 3. You get recess in middle school and highschool. If you want recess in middle school and highschool, you would get it. 4. The education is great. The things they teach are a few levels above grade level. They even teach things that most schools wouldn't teach. Also if you're a parent who wants to enroll your child into ERA, you might not want to because of the negatives, but you might because of the positives. It is a good school, but not as good as it used to be before the move to the Minnetonka building.By Mandy Infected lover, November 13, 2017
- ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆I have personally went to that school grades Kindergarten-6th, and it teaches good things from Kindergarten through fifth grade but once you step into the School of Logic and Rhetoric, it teaches pointless things that is only needed to know for the test. Eagle Ridge is great for K-5 but DON'T send your kid there for 6-12 grade.By Abbi Wood, July 27, 2017
